Sin is lawlessness.

All sin is against God. Most of this world doesn’t understand that fact. When we sin we violate God’s Law, for “sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4). Notice to whom David directed his repentance after Nathan rebuked him for violating the Commandments. He said, “Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight…” (Psa. 51:4).

Leviticus 6:2 If a person sins and commits a trespass against the Lord by lying to his neighbor about what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or about a pledge, or about a robbery, or if he has extorted from his neighbour…
